Tropical Storm Causes Flooding in Miramar Home?
6/20/2023 (Permalink)
Every year, the Atlantic hurricane season brings powerful storms to our shores. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) defines a tropical storm as a tropical cyclone in which the maximum sustained surface wind speed ranges from 39 miles per hour to 73 miles per hour. Our local Pembroke Pines and West Miramar teams are on call to respond to storm damage emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
NOAA Tropical Definitions
Tropical Depression: A tropical cyclone with maximum sustained winds of 38 miles per hour or less.
Tropical Storm: A tropical cyclone with maximum sustained winds of 39 to 74 miles per hour.
Hurricane: A tropical cyclone with maximum sustained winds of 74 miles per hour or higher.
Tropical Wave: Also referred to as an easterly wave, is an inverted trough or cyclonic curvature maximum moving east to west across the tropics. Tropical waves can lead to the formation of a tropical cyclone.
Tropical Disturbance: A tropical weather system with organized convection (generally 100 to 300 miles in diameter) originating in the tropics or subtropics, having a non-frontal migratory character and maintaining its identity for 24 hours or longer. It may or may not be associated with a detectable perturbation of the wind field.
