Hurricane Ian Brings Strong Winds and Heavy Rain to Pembroke Pines?
11/1/2022 (Permalink)
Our local Pembroke Pines and West Miramar teams respond to storm damage every year. Hurricane Ian brought hurricane-strength winds, wind gusts, and heavy rain to Pembroke Pines last month. Here are some tips from the Broward County website on developing a hurricane plan:
- Hold a family meeting and get your children involved.
- Determine if you live in an evacuation zone and where you will go when an order is given. Staying with family and friends outside the evacuation zone is your best option.
- Inventory your home's possessions and video or photograph items of value. Review your insurance policies, including your vehicle policy.
- Look for weaknesses in your roof, windows, garage door, landscaping, tree branches near electric lines, etc., and determine what actions to take.
- Decide where to store or park your vehicle, RV, or boat.
- Trim trees, install shutters, and or purchase a generator.
- Make arrangements in advance for people with special needs.
- Develop a plan for your pets.
- Ensure your family's food, water, and medical needs are covered.
- Notify others of your plan and establish an out-of-town contact. Let family and friends know so they can check up after the storm passes.
